Paxil (Paroxetine) is taken once a day orally and can be taken without regards to meal. Take this medication regularly for a couple of weeks for best effects.
Do not abruptly stop this medication as it develops withdrawal symptoms. The dose may be tapered gradually by the physician if you are chronically taking this medication.
Take only the prescribed dose. Store Paxil at a room temperature 20–25C (68–77F) and away from excess heat and moisture. Keep this away from children.
Anxiety disorders and depression are caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. One of those is serotonin, this sends electrical signal to a nerve cell then to another.
During the process, serotonin is released from a nerve cell and then travels to the next cell, where it can be absorbed or returned to the sender cell.
Missed Dose:
Take it as soon as remembered, however, if it is already time for the next dose, skip the missed dosage then continue with the regular dose schedule.
Do not double dose.

- This medication causes drowsiness or dizziness. Do not undertake activities that require mental alertness.
- Inform health care provider if you have a kidney or liver disease, seizures, or bipolar disorder as the dose may be readjusted.
- Inform health care provider if there is a previous allergy to Paxil and allergy to any other foods, medications, or other substances.
- FDA pregnancy category C. This medication causes teratogenic effects in animals, however, no studies have been done on pregnant women. Paxil passes into breast milk.
Common Paxil side effects:
- Headache
- Tremor
- Nervousness or anxiety
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Dry mouth
- Changes in weight or appetite
- Insomnia
- Decrease in libido
- Impotence
Seek emergency medical help:
- Severe allergic reactions (hives, difficulty of breathing, swelling of the lips/face/tongue)
- Arrhythmia
- Severe high blood pressure (headache or blurred vision)
- Low blood pressure (weakness or dizziness)
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Fever or chills
